WPM describes speed; accuracy describes correctly positioned characters as a share of typed characters. Compare both. A faster result with many errors may be less useful than a slower, more accurate attempt.

Your result is feedback for the round you just played. Use it to choose a practice focus, then compare another session under similar conditions.
Speed counts correct characters
The score uses five correct characters as a standard word. Divide correct characters by five and by the elapsed minutes to get correct-character WPM. A faster stream of mistakes does not help this speed measure.
Accuracy checks the source position
Each character is compared at its position in the passage. The percentage is correct matches divided by typed characters. An extra space or a missing letter can shift later text, so careful source following matters.
Choose one thing to improve
Look for a repeated pattern: punctuation, capital letters or a difficult word ending. Practise it slowly before the next timed round. Avoid chasing an arbitrary high score by rushing through errors.
Practice and awards are separate
A free round displays feedback and can be reset. It does not issue a certificate or qualify you automatically for an award. A paid assessment is recorded for staff review along with the purchase.
Read a result before chasing a faster one
| One-minute example | Correct WPM | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|
| 250 typed characters; 225 correctly positioned | 45 | 90% |
| 230 typed characters; 225 correctly positioned | 45 | 97.83% |
Both examples have the same correct-character speed. The second contains fewer errors. Use the pattern of mistakes to choose the next practice exercise.
